SOCIO ECONOMIST/PLANNER - CHESHIRE

Our client is at the forefront of transportation, providing a wide range of technical, managerial and analytical services to their public and private sector customers throughout the world.
They are currently looking for a Socio-Economist/Planner to lead on the delivery of their diverse current portfolio of work and build on the continuing success and growth of their national including the internal development of the discipline function and its team.
The role in more detail will be to focus on dealing with a range of planning, regeneration and socio-economic issues. Whilst there is an existing core caseload, an essential attribute will be to develop existing and expand future client base and market new skills.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
" Responsible for the development of the company's market presence by winning new work
" Support, motivate and expand a developing team.
" Strategically align the socio/economic team to business activity regionally and nationally. Scope may develop for this to incorporate international in time.
" Involvement in developing and appraising schemes, policies and programmes
" Involvement and direction on equality issues
" Provision of support on regeneration issues
" Willingness to offer expertise across the UK, linking with market research and transport planning teams as necessary.
" Present findings, justifiable recommendations and strategy to client and colleagues alike.
" Manage and monitor a small team of 4 in two geographic locations.
It is important that you have good numeracy and problem solving skills, have the ability to work productively in a team, good computer literacy and data interpretation skills and will have a genuine interest in transport and urban planning issues.
You will also need to be committed to providing high quality solutions and advice to clients and have first class communication and technical ability.
In terms of your background it might be that you have come from a planning or economic background with a broad knowledge base to enable you to support team members in each area.
You should also have a good understanding of national, regional and local planning and policy, as well as extensive experience in socio/economic planning, projection and profiling ideally in a regeneration and/or transportation development context.
In addition crime analysis, projection and profiling would be of additional benefit. Dataset analysis, appraisals and assessment experience are valuable.
You will also have the willingness to support the development of business opportunities and activity regionally and nationally.
