Title: Technical Director - Geological Services
Description: Technical Director for Geological Services £45 - 55k plus benefits Warwickshire This well established geo/environmental consultancy are seeking to develop their business further and are seeking to recruit a highly capable TD for their Geological offering. Key to the role will be to provide direction and support to consultants in the management and undertaking of all aspects of geological services. As a key member of the company you will be expected to play a proactive role in company performance and management and development of new business opportunities for strategic growth and development of the company. You will be expected to provide technical input to the Geology department through assessment of risks and liabilities associated with contaminated land for a variety of purposes including pre-acquisition due diligence and insurance, assessment of contamination in soil, groundwater and surface water and carry out groundwater risk assessments prior to the development of landfill sites and mineral extractions. In addition to this authorisation of purchase requisitions for stock or equipment required for the department and to carry out quality procedures in accordance with the quality system. As well as liaise with clients and regulatory authorities during projects, control the quality, progress and costs of projects and preparation of letters, reports or other written work as required by the company. You will oversee the workload for the Geology / Hydrogeology department and take line management responsibilities for including timely completion of review meetings, annual appraisals, support in completion of individual CPD records, providing training , direction and support to the department as necessary, authorisation of annual leave and salary reviews for staff. This also includes assessing the risks and liabilities associated environmental contamination for a variety of purposes including pre-acquisition due diligence and insurance. The role is seen as a key one to the organisation and includes providing support to the department and other departments within the company to undertake responsibility for specific project performance and control including research and development work and, where appropriate, project procurement. From an experience viewpoint it is hoped that you will have gained six or more years experience in a similar role and previous experience of working with Quality Management Systems would be an advantage. It is hoped that you will have an MSc and will be a Chartered Geologist and that you will have gained previous experience of working in consultancy or the private sector. A knowledge of minerals or waste would be useful and the ability to priotise your workload. The role will involve managing a team of Geologists / Hydrogeologists and therefore a 'Hands On' approach to your technical workload would be very useful.
