Title: Senior Transport Modeller
Description: SENIOR TRANSPORT MODELLER BIRMINGHAM £35- 48K This world renowed organisation is able to provide a wide range of technical, managerial and analytical services to their customers throughout the globe. Their specialist transportation department provides a diverse range of skills related to the complete life cycle of transport solutions. As their business continues to grow and develop they are currently seeking a senior modeller with extensive modelling and appraisal experience, in-depth knowledge of guidance and good practice and an affinity with microsimulation software (VISSIM or Paramics preferred). This is a key role and involves working closely on the delivery of the company's current portfolio of work. You will act as a technical leader and project manager on a range of projects and build on the continuing success and growth of their national and international business. In more detail the role involves joining the Midlands based modelling team, where you will be integral to a range of planning and modelling projects and will assist in delivering, managing or directing these projects. Your responsibilities will include: • Providing technical leadership. • Assisting in expanding and extending markets, including those within the Group. • Overall financial control and monitoring of project programmes. • Consulting with wide ranging client groups and the public. • Complying with QA requirements and industry best practice. • Assisting in the management of the modelling team. • Undertaking research in line with Divisional business development objectives. It is expected that you will be technically strong and have good analytical experience, together with proven commercial and financial management and be committed to providing robust solutions. You should have the drive, competence and confidence to lead this sector of the business and provide advice to clients. Experience of leading a team of modellers is highly desirable. Strong report writing skills are a pre-requisite, as are skills in project management, supervision and communication. Our client is also hoping that you will have:- • Membership of a professional institution such as ICE, TPS, ICE or CILT • A degree in a numerate discipline; a post graduate qualification would be desirable but not essential. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proven experience of traffic signal operation working with TRANSYT, VISSIM, and PARAMICS (other packages may be acceptable). • Expertise in programming is highly desirable, e.g. Visual Basic, VBA, and COM as is experience in some or all of the following (useful but not essential): ArchiCAD, Autodesk ADT, 3D Studio Max, Maya.
