Our client is a world leader in the transportation field and their Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) sector has a strong team of specialists with a wide range of technical skills covering ITS Strategy, Public Transport Systems, UTMC systems, Road Tolling and Inter urban roads.
Many of the team have multi-disciplinary skills that allow ITS skills to interface with the greater transport requirements of larger projects. They also offer a range of in-depth involvement in due-diligence, outline design, detailed design, tender & contract preparation, project management, system implementation, operation and system maintenance.
Their current team operates across the company with staff in Scotland, Midlands, London and the South East and South West England.
As our client continues to expand they are looking to further develop their ITS team in Scotland. As the ITS Team Leader in Scotland, you will be responsible for the management of the ITS business, ensuring that targets of growth, profitability and efficiency are all met in line with the business plan. You will have strong leadership, mentoring and management skills, with responsibility for up to 10 staff with a variety of backgrounds.
The successful candidate will also be required to work as a Project Manager and Project Director to manage the delivery of a broad range of ITS projects in the Scotland Region.
As an expert in the ITS field you will also act as a technical reviewer on projects in other regions, supporting others in your area of technical expertise. You will be required to represent the company in Scottish and UK wide forums as a technical ITS expert.
Key to this role will be to lead and manage the ITS business in Scotland, with responsibility for the strategic planning, development and day to day management of the ITS team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic leadership and management of the ITS business in Scotland
Development and promotion of the company's ITS profile in Scotland
Management of business development activities for ITS in Scotland
Management and supervision of ITS Project Managers to ensure projects are financially viable and meeting profitability targets
Compilation and presentation of project performance details for the ITS management team
Project Management and Project Director responsibility for a broad variety of ITS projects
Managing and mentoring team members, and encouraging the growth of the ITS team
It is hoped that you will possess and be able to demonstrate strong leadership ability and experience in managing ITS Specialists. In addition you will possess excellent project management and negotiation abilities, proven record to direct and manage large scale (>£2M) and/or multi-disciplinary projects and be a strong mentor. It is also hoped that you will have experience in:-
Urban Traffic Management and Control (UTMC)
Local Road Network Management
Strategic Road Network Management
Tolling, road pricing and congestion charging
Real time (passenger) information systems
Urban Traffic Control (UTC) and traffic signals
communication systems
Geographic Information Systems
relevant degree and Masters Degree or demonstration of equivalent learning.
