Title: Rail/Transport Planner
Description: RAIL/TRANSPORT PLANNER - c£32k Liverpool This major organisation is a world leader in their core sector of work, transportation and provides a wide range of technical, managerial and analytical services to their customers across the globe. Their continued successes have given rise to a very interesting role which calls for a Rail Planner to lead on the delivery of their current portfolio of work and build on the continuing success and growth of their national and international business. In more detail the role will involve:- • Forecasting of underlying public transport demand trends, and determining regional characteristics (both exogenous and endogenous) • Revenue and benefit forecasting for a range of schemes from minor to strategic (including journey time savings, accident and congestion improvements) • Involved in planning and demand forecasting socio/demographic-economic and business economics or reopening rail lines and/or stations. • Calculation of TOC operating costs including fixed and variable track access costs • Analysis of rolling stock, leasing and maintenance costs • Preparation of Business Cases (both for the private sector and the public sector). From a candidate perspective it is essential that you will have excellent commercial and financial management awareness, be committed to providing high quality solutions and advice to clients and have first class report writing, project management, supervisory, communication and technical ability. In addition to this you will be experienced within rail planning and preferably have an MSc in a transport related subject as well as a professional membership of a relevant institution. • Strong knowledge of technical transport planning environments, knowledge of the UK transport planning market. • An understanding of programme planning for construction / installation projects. • Ability to produce methodologies / method statements. Finally you must be capable of representing the company in meetings with clients and other contractors and have a positive approach to business.
